NKT is a Fellow Member (FCCA) of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) since the age of 27 and Chartered Accountant CA (M) of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) since the age of 25. Beside professional membership, NKT also holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Southern Cross Australia. NKT started his career with an international BIG 4 audit firm and later joined the commercial industry including holding positions like Head of Finance/Corporate Development and Group Financial Controller. His most recent position was Chief Corporate Planner of a Thai listed company before venturing to China to explore yet another amazing career progression. Through NKT’s career life, he has accumulated vast experience in the field of financial reporting, audit, management consultancy, turnkey project management, corporate finance and other corporate exposures. Business reengineering and setting up of operation system were part of NKT’s milestones with his previous appointment. He has successfully implemented and improved the business and operating system for his previous companies covering the area financial reporting, internal control, risk management and the corporate governance structure. NKT also posses hands-on experience and is well versed with the latest development in the area of financial reporting and governance issues. Apart from a successful career in the corporate world, NKT is also a well renowned lecturer and has been lecturing since his final year of study in ACCA. He has been lecturing for more than 8 years and has his footstep over many cities in Malaysia and many countries around ASIA. He has devoted his time to lecturing in places like Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bharu, Kuching Kota Kinabalu, Vietnam, Uganda and others. His forte is in financial reporting and audit. With the latest inclusion of Paper P1 (Professional Accountant) in the ACCA syllabus, NKT added another scope to his ACCA lecturing assignment. Ray also conducted various academic seminars with ACCA around the smaller town in Malaysia with the aim to improve the academic results of ACCA student as part of NKT’s community service commitments. In addition to lecturing, NKT also conducted various corporate trainings for corporations and also many in- house trainings for the companies that he has served. NKT has been the accredited ACCA trainer for the Business Navigator program for 3 years with the objective to train the local audit and consultancy firms on business re-engineering program. Besides his career in the realm of corporate world of finance, lecturing and training, NKT has been very active with ACCA initiatives since his student days. He was the ex- president for the ACCA Student Ambassador and promoted ACCA’s student’s activities in Malaysia. Among the activities initiated during his tenure as students ambassador included study and exam technique seminar, which has benefited many ACCA students. The project begin since Year 1999 and NKT had extend his initiative starting from Penang, Ipoh, Klang Valley (Public and with specific institution) Johor Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Miri Batu Pahat, Muar and other locations. Through these years of interaction with students all around, he understands the needs and problems faced by students and he is highly regarded by many students and often acts as personal mentor for some outstanding individuals. . He also took on the role as mentor for students pursuing the ACCA Oxford Brookes degree. Besides the student ambassador program, NKT was also the founding member then proceeding to the position of president for the ACCA-KL Toastmaster Club, which he actively promoted the importance of public speaking among member and students of ACCA. He has also completed the competent toastmaster level and has obtained the title of Competent Toastmaster (CTM). He was also a member of the ACCA Financial Reporting standards (FRS) Committee since its inception until Year 2006; the main aim of the committee was to provide technical feedbacks and updates on the latest developments to the Malaysia Accounting Standards issued by MASB (The Malaysian Accounting Standards Board). Through the committee, NKT was involved in three-transition period of the development for Financial Reporting Standard for Malaysia and international. Lastly, to add the icing on the cake, NKT was also a prize winner for ACCA Audit Paper during his academic days. |
